throttle body ??? 200

So I gave my throttle body a good cleaning and it looks great. But a question. In the closed postion should the butterfly plate completely seal the bore? I have enclosed a before and after picture and a picture taken with a flashlight behind the throttle body so you can see light sneaking past the butterfly plate.

Wow, that before shot looks like you baked a chocolate cupcake in there!

I just cleaned mine a few weeks ago. It was about 1/2 that bad. runs fine now, after a few problems with the sensor. I had moved the sensor and hadn't tightened it torqued it properly. It wouldn't idle sometimes and would launch out of my parking spot as soon as i put it in reverse. Then it felt like it was flooding. I went back in and found the sensor was just sliding all over the place. tightened it up to the "click" and now it runs like a champ.

Thats perfectly normal. The TB doesn't have to be air tight. Its all about how much volume of air gets through which is never zero. Any small leaks like that past the TB are compensated for by the idle control valve. Just make sure you get a normal idle speed. WOW, your TB looked horrible by the way. Nice work. Your throttle will be much more responsive.

Thank you. It was nasty, full of oil sludge. I'm surprised it ran as well as it did. Now I'm really excited to drive it and feel the difference.
