Ported heads ??? 200

After removing my intake and cleaning things up it looks like my intake ports were smoothed and ported. Are the heads from a B230F ported at the factory? Or did someone send these heads to a machine shop to be ported? I'm new to Volvo's so bear with me. Here are some pics look at the bottoms of the intake ports.

Those are factory broach marks and they are typically that rough. Actual porting would be far smoother than that.

      Ported heads ??? 200

Is there any performance to be had porting and polidhing these heads? Or would it just be a waste of money? I once spent a fortune porting, polishing, oversize valves, bronze guides, and a 3 angle valve job for some Mopar "906" heads. Only to find out latter that I could have spent less money for alluminum Edelbrock heads and got more performance. :( So now in my old age I try to make every dollar count. That's why I ask a lot of annoying questions.

      Thanks :)

I do a "street port" on the B23 heads, that profiles the intake port a bit, and smooths the transition across the valve seats. I do no work on the exhaust port. I also back cut the intake valves.
As mentioned by another, this is not required unless one uses more compression and a big cam. The Canadian B23E is a perfect candidate, and I have not worked on any others.
The pushrod motors can use all the help they can get.

I think it would be a waste of time unless additional work is done requiring more flow. A big cam, or using the head for a Turbo application would see a benefit.

Upgrades to the exhaust system (larger diameter Turbo rear pipes) and this port work might gain a small benefit but the biggest part of the puzzle is getting rid of the low-lift short-duration stock M cam.

Well, I did some polishing on the exhaust and some gasket match the intake
The long intake port, if polished, can puddle fuel and actually hurt performance.
Keep the bottom rough, smooth out the machining and polish the top.
Also, remove all the carbon deposits and polish the chamber without removing too much material.
It helps too polish the intake too!!!
Remove all crap inside and give it a good clean inside
