B230FT TB Q... Timing marks on belt didn't realign

I am finishing the TB & tensioner install, but when I rotated my crankshaft, the marks on the TB didn't realign on the marks, but the marks seem to be in the proper places. this is an aftermarket belt (I don't think this will make a difference) and was lined up before rotation. My cam & intermediate are 2 teeth off and my crank is 1.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

    B230FT TB Q... Timing marks on belt didn't realign....they won't

The stripes are only for installation.

Because of the relationship between tooth-count, teeth on the belt, on the cam/I sprocket and on the crank sprocket, they might never line up again.

My test for "It is right" is done after the tensioner bolt is tightened, and is this: Using the breaker bar and socket, rotate the engine exactly one turn, then exactly one turn the opposite direction. Then the stripes must line up.

During the turning, either direction, watch for signs that the belt is trying to "walk off" a sprocket or the tensioner roller.

Worry not, just do the above test.

    Good Luck,

    Bob

I never use the marks on the belt as an indexing aid. Those belts are made by too many different companies employing who know what methods of quality control. Just make sure all three sprocket marks align with their respective marks on the engine case and rear timing belt cover - that's all that really counts. And to make it even simpler, if you have the cam-driven distributor on the back of the head, you can ignore the timing of the intermediate shaft all together. In that case you only have two shafts that need to be on mark - the crankshaft and the cam.
