What kind of mileage 200 1989

Was wondering what kind of milege other Brickboarders are getting on their 240s. I've got this 89 w auto and after doing the Ovedrive mod(eliminating it) and changing the O2 sensor, am getting only about 15mpg city driving. One thing I noticed is that the O2 sensor only lasted about 2 months before the Check engine light came back on. It always seems to come on just as it is going to shift into O/D, was wondering if the poor mileage is related, Thanks

    Why did you eliminate your overdrive? Does this mean you only have 3 gears? Thats probably the reason for your poor fuel economy.

    All serious answers - as you know - should start with more questions.
    In this case the question is: what did you get as mileage before ?

    My 240 (B230F, automatic) gets 17 to 18 mpg in town, which is frustratingly low. But I've been told that it's normal and there's nothing wrong with the car. Highway mileage, on the other hand, is a reassuring 30 if I remember to keep a light foot.

    Check other posts on "check engine light" (it could be just the oil change reminder light) and on O2 sensor failure could be due to soldered connections (rather than just tied).
