After reading 50 or so posts I would like to suggest this simple procedure.

COMPLETELY DESCRIBE THE VEHICLE!!!! Including Year, current mileage, sedan or wagon, engine (everone knows about the B230FD, right??), EMISSION EQUIPMENT (does it have EGR, Air injection???), and transmission (manual w\O.D., manual w/5th, automatic??).

Got a running problem?? What have you replaced??

Got a drivetrain\suspension noise?? Do you have stock wheels??, What kind of tires??

Electrical problem?? Have you been jump starting the car??

Etcetra, Ad Nauseum.

Really, some of these posts just do not have enough info.

And the one that we always have trouble with is when someone says "The engine won't turn over." There's always the question as to wether it really wouldn't "turn over" (like dead battery), or it actually turned over but just wouldn't start.

My favorite is "My car won't start, do you think its the computer?"..

i think we should maybe consider that some people do not know anything about cars and they come here looking for help,I know I came to this site many years ago knowing nothing about Volvos and would have sent my first 240 to the junk yard but the brickboarders taught me how to save it and I have now the reputation in my community of being somewhat of an expert on the 240's and have convinced many to switch to the 240 Volvos.Any "expertise" is my dependence on this site...just some ramblings of heart felt gratitude....make it a great day..Kris
