1984 240 was running fine next time I started it it started hard and will idle about 400 rpm but nothing happens when I step on the gas. Raised the hood rotated throttle but nothing happens.

Could it be that your MAP sensor died? Did 240s that young still have a MAP sensor?

Had a good backup already switched it out. It is like the computor is not talking to the throttle sensor and mass sensor.

Sounds like the throttle plate has fallen off the shaft it is attached to within the throttle body.

Pull the intake hose and verify movement of the plate.

Check that the throttle link is attached, too...

Throttle plate is fine linkage is fine.
