6x9 help!

SO, 89 245 i just bought some 6x9's without even looking back there. (D.A.) Now, I am faced with a dilemma. Boxes for the 6x9's or put them somewhere else. Where could I stick them? In the tailgate? Or the rear doors? Help someone.

Shoot...flank your 6x9's on a bandpass enclosure with twin 10's or 12's. Timid? Make a 12 inch inclosure for the space where third seat goes and just put 5" mids on the doors.

I've seen a pair in the tailgate, but it wasn't pretty. Plus, that route is tough because of running wires to and through the hinged tailgate.

I'd be willing to bet that they wouldn't go into the rear doors without cutting some metal to get them in deep enough. I think the factory speakers there were four inch and 5-1/4" will fit without trouble, so depth and window clearance probably isn't an issue.

Boxes are probably the easiest and least destructive way to go, but may end up getting tossed around unless they are held down. I think I'd go the box route making sure that they can be easily removed/moved when I carry passengers or have the seat down for hauling. That means extra long speaker wires with quick release connectors. With the seat up they could sit right behind the seatback (again how to keep them from floating around) and with the seat down they could sit out of the way on the floor right behind the front seats.

right, boxes seem like the best way. Although, it's almost like gift boxes for the crack heads out there. But, the only thing is where to mount them. Somewhere off to the sides in the back with the rear seat up. It would be nice to place them on the wood panel back there, but when you want to haul some stuff... I have thought of a quick release thing and putting them up against the rear seat pointing to the gate. I think if you had speaker terminal clip releases you wouldn't need extra long speaker wires. I don't know if there is a quick release for mount brackets or where to get that. I can "see" the concept, but where to go for that?

The crackheads need tools to steal my boxes. Up off the floor, actually pointed at your ears. I don't see why it wouldn't work w/6x9 in wood boxes.

I guess you are talking about speakers.
pass side there is a panel over the wheel well,
but the spare tire is on the other side.
