Hi,
Can anyone recommend a volvo specialist in Houston area? I cannot get my car to pass emissions. My car spent over week at a Certified Emission Repair shop who told me they can't find anything wrong with the car. Everything checked out yet it doesn't pass. They recommended I find a volvo specialist. The car runs good except for a hesitation nobody can figure out. Car passed last year no problem but did not have the hesitation. Just about everything you can think of has been replaced on this car in the past 6 months. Car is a 1991 940 SE Wagon 214K miles. I'm sure the right volvo guy can figure this out. Any references appreciated.

    On Sherwood Forest, just a little north from I-10 west, you will find Pro-Volvo. Ask for Richard.

    Not far away, on Hazelhurst, west off Brittmoore, is TAP-VPI. Ask for Tom.

    I will look for phone numbers.

    This is your clue to the emissions failure. You don't say so but my guess is high NOX readings?

    That is unmetered air being introduced to the combustion process. The hesitation is caused because the predicted A/F ratio is leaned by the air leak.

    As far as a shop, try Freedom Automotive. These are the guys that host the Saturday morning car show on KPRC radio. I have not used them but I listen to their show and they don't "guess"; they test. They have the equipment to do it right. If I remember right they have a 5-gas anaylizer on premises.
