Oil filter adapter line seal replacement

On a B230FT with the early style oil filter adapter, where the 2 steel lines attach to the adapter, there are 2 crush ring (1 per line) between the fittings and the adapter housing. Then there are 2 round ferrules that slide over the ends of the tubes and get crushed to seal when tightened. How do you remove the old ferrules, dremel or chisel? I have searched the archives and the FAQ's for info on these ferrules but found nothing. Should they ever be replaced, or is it OK to keep re-using them ? I have a small leak that comes out of one of them, and have tried cleaning and retightening. My engine is very clean, so I can tell the oil is not coming from anywhere higher than steel tube meets the fitting to the adapter.

Oil filter adapter line seal replacement

I am not familiar with the hose attachment points leaking but the large rubber Oring behind the adapter is prone to developing leaks. Could it be coming from there?

I also know that there are two different sizes used and the dealer I was using when I needed one sent me the wrong one- twice! Not easy to do when there are only two sizes to begin with....
