IRS E-Brake Cable Disconnect 700 1989

How do I disconnect the e-brake cable on my '89 780 at the hub? I'm replacing the wheel bearings and have everything unbolted, but don't see how to free the hub assy from the e-brake cable.

With the rotor removed, you need to pull the cable to expand the parking brake shoes and then insert a spacer to keep the shoes expanded. I use a medium screwdriver turned sideways. With the shoes expanded outward from normal position, you can push the cable inward and expose the clevis pin that holds the cable end to the lever assembly. Push out the pin in either direction and the cable is free. Disengage the dust boot from the backing plate so it stays with the cable.

It's not difficult to get the screwdriver wedged back in later to reverse the procedure for reinstalling the pin.
