Hi all,

The metal line that connects to my water pump has sprung a leak where it bends up to the engine and I'm loosing coolant. What is the replacement procedure?Does the head of the engine need to come off? It looks like its dripping right from the line.

Have done this repair afew times it usualy pinholes at the mounting tab
weld.Removing as instructed is simple ,cleaning the affected area and coating
it with bronze has proven durable for me.This pipe should painted as a
matter of maintenance,especialy in salty exposures
Ps I think the flexing stress at this spot is not good for JB weld

Hi Joe,

If you're absolutely sure it is the pipe, this is a good news repair. It is held with one M8 bolt to the block, just forward of that bend you mention, and again with the tab at the water pump. Behind the head is only the heater hose clamped to its end, which is a lot easier to disconnect with the pipe loose.

Biggest challenge is going to be locating your replacement pipe, which may be no challenge at all if you have a self-service yard nearby.
