Can I interchange 760 powered antennas 700

My '87 760's powered antenna no longer moves. No big surprise there. The motor no longer turns the antenna takeup reel. I have a spare motorized antenna, same size, but it is a different electrical interface. Here's the data. Anybody know whether I can replace the old with the new? If so, do I need to make electrical changes, and if so, what? Thanks!

Old motorized antenna
Model #1384522
3 wire interface: red with green stripe, black ground, another dark colored wire paired with the red/green

New(er) motorized antenna
Model #3545706-1
2 wire interface: red, white

Alternatively, perhaps I can disassemble the two motors and replace old bad mechanical parts from the newer one.

Thanks for the info!

Can I interchange 760 powered antennas 700

In my experience with power antennas, all on 240s, it takes 3 wires to "motivate" the antenna.

In my cars, there are two wires from the car front in a harness, and a separate ground wire to a nearby mounting screw.

Of the two from the front, one is constant power with key on, the other one is powered only when the head unit is powered (and the antenna switch closed if the car has one).

Look at the 2-wire antenna unit to find a ground wire connection somewhere.

Look also at the connection for the RF cable. I ran into a problem there. The in-car cable must be the opposite (male vs female) of the on-antenna connector.

Another tack - the failure of the present antenna can be a broken nylon gear piece. New masts are available. In my pre-BB days, I bought on from my dealer. It came with the usual Volvo 6-language instructions. In your case yo might have to open the motor unit to remove the broken bits. Be very careful of the tightly coiled greasy spring in there. BTDT.

Good Luck,

Bob
