M46 Drain Plug Size ?? 200

Hello. 1986 sedan stick shift with M46 tranny with overdrive. What is the size/thread for the drain plug ? Also is this same as fill plug size/thread ?? Thanks.

    I found out the hard way that on my '82 M46 it's a 15/16 inch hex.

    1/2" NPT is what I've always found on the M45/46.
    Both plugs are the same.

      I went out and got a 1/2" NPT fitting. Did not work. Smidge too big. Think maybe it is metric. Anyone know for sure correct size ?? Thanks.

        Sorry for the bum steer. But like I said, that's what I've found on the older gearboxes. I actually took a 1/2" pipe nipple and screwed it into the fill hole on an M45 an it was a perfect fit.
        Are the threasds on your old plugs tapered?
