90 740 won't turn over 300 1990

Hello, I have a 90 740 that will not start. The engine will not even turn over. The battery has plenty of power. When I turn the ignition switch I can see it drawing power from the batter, because the light dim. Where should i start. I haVE REPLacewd the fuel pump relay with a spare one but it didn't help.
Thanks
Dennis

Have you tried starting it in neutral? The neutral safety switch can cause a no start as you describe (althought the dimming lights can rule this out).

It kind of sounds like a problem with the starter itself, but before spending any money there you might want to check both ends of both battery cables and make sure they're clean and connected well.

Hello, I cleaned the battery cables before this happened when I installed a new battery. Do you think it is possiblt the starter selenoid or the starter itself.

Thanks
Dennis

Maybe frozen starter? 300 1990

The starter may be frozen if you've recently driven thru puddles, then let the car set out in freezing weather.

That's exactly what my daughter did a few days ago with her '93 240. Next day her symptoms were just like yours. After a couple of sunny days she tried it again and got a bit of noise from the starter. Tried again right away and it fired up.
