Torque value for timing belt cover 900

Hi everyone,
I searched around in the forums and in the faq's pages and I cannot find the torque valves for the timing belt cover. I am sort of a stickler for finding the exact torque values for bolts. Does anyone have this information? I don't need the values for the timing belt itself. Just the cover.

Many thanks,

Laura

The 10mm hex bolts are the same thread (6.0mm) as the valve cover bolts, which are spec'd at 9 lb. ft.
The one 12mm hex bolt I'd guess at maybe 15-18 lb. ft. As others have said, use a little loctite as insurance. It's not like you're sealing fluid under pressure.

There really isn't any point to that, spannering isn't painting by numbers. It also isn't about getting it as tight as you possibly can, a small tug with a normal length spanner is all it needs.

Everything should come loose relatively easily using normal hand tools. If you get broken fixings you're overdoing it. Professional mechanics simply don't use torque wrenches for these kind of applications.

Merely snug: use Loctite blue if you are concerned about vibration loosening.

A 900 could have several different motors, but I don't think that matters here.

There's a time and place for a torque wrench, and this isn't it. I don't think you'll find a torque spec because there isn't one.

"Good and tight" meets the torque spec.

If you *really* want to get anal about it, find another fastener of the same size/thread and use the torque spec for that.

Mostly, torque specs are more about the fastener than what it's fastening. An M6x1.0 bolt will only withstand so much torque before it snaps, regardless of the application.
