Here in Annapolis, we've had some cold temps of late (relatively speaking, for us- it's been in the teens, which isn't so cold to some of you). Today, I had a moderate front end vibration (could feel it in the floorboard and steering wheel) for the first ten to twenty minutes of highway driving. This happened once before on another similarly cold day. Both times it occurred around 65 to 75 mph only and smoothed out after around 20 minutes on the highway. Perhaps once the tires or bearings warmed up, to the extent they would in such conditions?
Normally, the car is very smooth and vibration free, except for a little low-frequency "thrumming" that occurs when cornering at moderate speeds. Kind of a deep "wooba, wooba" sound that can be heard, but not felt, when I use curving highway ramps. It's not present in cornering at parking lot speed, nor is it present when traveling straight. I can't place that sound either front or rear, since it's a wagon and tends to resonate sound easily. I'm planning to look at the suspension and bearings once it warms up a bit.
Any ideas as to cause(s) of the vibration and/or "wooba, wooba"? Thanks.
