What is the engine application for the AMM 020 part number ?
I found one of these down in the cellar and I'd like to know what the application is so I can unload this thing. It's mounted in the Air Intake Box cover just like the 007s are.
I know the 007s are for the B230FT Engines with Bosch LH 2.2 but, this one, I don't know.
Help is appreciated.

I'm pretty sure that the 020 was used in the LH-3.1 fuel injection systems, which superceeded the LH-2.x series. Off the top of my head, here's a rough application list:
LH-2.0 used a 002 AMM on 240 cars from 1983-1984, and the 1984 760 B23FT turbo used it as well.
LH-2.2 used the 007 AMM on the 240 cars from 1985-1988, and the 700 non-turbos from 1985-1988, and the 700 turbos from 1985-1989.
LH-2.2 for the B280F V-6 applicatons from 1987 through 1990 used the 006 AMM.
LH-2.4 used the 016 AMM on the 240 cars from 1989-1992 or 1993. The 700/900 non-turbos used it from 1989 till sometime in the mid-90s. The 700/900 turbo cars used it from 1990 through sometime in the mid-90s.
LH-3.1 which I belive uses the 020 was supposed to be introduced in 1991 (as per Volvo new car features books), but the only cars that I've seen with it have been 240 cars from 1993. I don't doubt that there are more of them out there, but that's the only place I've seen one personally.
Also, the Bendix/Regina fuel injection system (with the REX ignition system) was used very commonly on a lot of 700/900 non-turbo cars throughout the 1980s and 1990s. However in the later years, if you lived in California you were more likely to get a LH system in your 700/900 than a Bendix/Regina, and vice versa was true.
Hopefully, someone who spends a lot more time turning wrenches on LH-3.1 systems will respond, but that's my best guess off the top of my head as to where your 020 AMM came from (without running home and checking the Volvo Green manuals).
God bless,
Fitz Fitzgerald.

Could easily be a non-volvo application. He could type the complete Bosch number into a search engine and have lots of clues. No RWD volvo I know of uses -020 amm and the LH3.1 was brought out not to supersede LH2.4 but to meet emissions specs on manual tranny cars, so you'll see them 91 on right alongside (production wise) LH2.4 with the 4-terminal mass airflow sensor ending in 001. Your green manuals have Bosch numbers??

"Your green manuals have Bosch numbers??
In the Volvo Green specifications books or the NCF books, it will usually list both a part and how to identify it. If there's no Volvo number on it, it will list the Bosch part number. In some cases, they list both the Volvo and the Bosch number. -but you won't find this to be the case in all circumstances.
Good point about doing a google search on the entire part number. I've done that a few times to identify a "mystery" part that I've found in my garage, or one of the rarer/seldom used Fuel Injection Computers that's gathering dust on my garage shelf.
Hey, now that you mention it, doesn't the Volvo part number of the Bosch 016 AMM end with the digits 020? -and aren't they side by side on the AMM cover? I don't have one in front of me to check, nor my books, but I'm pretty sure that it does. I think we may have just solved the mystery here if he did indeed give us the last 3 digits of the Volvo part number rather than the Bosch number.
God bless,
Fitz.

My deepest aplogies for this rookie mistake:
It is a 016 AMM NOT a 020 as I had previously stated.
0 280 212016 That is the "Bosch" Part Number correct ?
The number below the 016 number, 3517020 is the Volvo Part Number ?
Sorry, I think my brain froze along with the shinny out in the back yard.

And it brings to mind an excellent compliment for outside of the box thinking. More clues are no hits to either 0280212020 or 0280217020 for either hot wire or thin film series meters.
By the way, my ignition green book is chock full of Bosch numbers; I just haven't seen any in the FI books.

"my ignition green book is chock full of Bosch numbers; I just haven't seen any in the FI books."
You are correct, it's not in the Fuel Injection books. There are seperate Green books for just "Specifications," some of them only cover a single vehicle for a single year, some cover two or three years for a particular vehicle. Tbe Specifications books typically covers all the hardware data and how to identify various parts like the differential, which gear sets came with which engines and transmission combinations, which temp sensors were used on your engine, the part numbers for the fuel pump assemblies and the serial number of the car that they started installing the new version, etc, etc...
Regarding the 016 AMM, I might be looking to pick up another one. I just sold my last good working spare to a customer and don't have any more on the shelf. Email me off-list if you desire.
God bless,
Fitz Fitzgerald.

Fitzy,
I tried to send you an email from here, you address was a bunch of encypted characters@denizen.net
Send me an email please so we can talk about the 016 AMM, it looks in perfect condition, not abused at all.
If I could use it, I would keep it.
The female spousal unit is starting to get on my case about all the parts I have in the cellar, so I need to thin out the parts herd down there before she gets her knickers in a knot.

Cousin,
You should be able to call a dealer parts counter and they can tell you what years/models used it.
