thanks for the reply troops.the block will be 2.1 litres, the head from a B20 injected motor with modified stainless valves and other tweeks known only by my chosen head man.the induction is 2 dcoe webers(45s).i was sort of hoping to trundle down to the shops in a sedate manner and have the beast idle at a sensible rpm.tell me if i am living in fairyland!

As JohnMC posted last week, the R cam is an old cam and not recommended for a street car - daily driver type. More modern designs will give you the same or more high end power and more power throughout the power band.

I don't think you ever said how you were going to use the car, so how appropropriate one cam or the other is, is hard to say.

    Hi!

As You have been told, if all in the engine is OK, and DCOE`S too. ( bearings stiff, mounted correctly in manifolds, and right chokes jets etc ) It will run smoothly. All depends what has been chanced in the engine, and how they worked together. There propably will come some problems during rebuilding, those are never bold on systems. The main issues are how far is the cyl. head modified. " All effects all, if you chance one thing, you must think what it does to other"

I never had that much trouble getting a smooth idle with the R cam and my DCOE 40's. I'll just assume you are kidding about building that motor to trundle along sedately!
