    aircare..(smog results).. question 200 1988

I presume that this is from an 'under load' test?

    Things that increas NOx:
    Failed catalytic converter
Exhaust leak that sucks in fresh air
    Advanced timing

Make sure there are no leaks and the cat is fully hot when tested, before giving up on the old cat.

I question that it was ever actually 2 ppm. That sounds too low to be an accurate reading. I would like to have seen the calibration results on that analyzer that day.

Burning premium gas may knock a few ppm off, but it won't get you down where you need to be.
