Besides Bougicord, are there other wires that I can use? 200 1989

In terms of OEM fitment and performance? In terms of fitment, I mean how the ends fit perfectly the plug area. Or is Bougicord the way to go since it is the OEM for the 240?

I have an '89 240DL, did Volvo make two different rotor sizes for my car?

Last question that has been asked so many times. I'll narrow it down though. Bosch copper or NKG? NKG costs a bit more, but the difference is negligible. Which performs better, lasts longer, and gives your car that extra spark?

Thanks, guy! Ordered a set of Kingsborne wires! 200 1989

I found a set of Bosch on ebay with metal sleeves for around $25 (shipping included) and was debating about getting it. I called Kingsborne and they carry two different sets for my model. One had rubber sleeves and the other metal, the former being around $25 and the latter almost twice as much. I got the rubber set. Other than the sleeve material, both are the same I am told. It cost a tad more than the Bosch on Ebay, but it has 8mm wires. I'm not exactly sure what that translates to, but it must be good, as iPd highlights it in their website. The cool thing is that you get to have a choice of color. I decided to stay conservative and got BLUE :) No neon green, though deep inside the boy racer in me wanted something flashy and blingy.

I am running kingsborne wires, the same stuff IPD is selling rebranded with their logo.

    kingsborne.com

you can go to the above website and score a set of wires for your 240 for less than $40.

The $40 set I got mail to my house came in any color, got all wires made 1" longer, 8mm, and includes high temp silicone for the wire ends.

You can get a pre-made set or order custom lengths, color, whatever.

    better than magnacore.
    better than bougicord.
    better than bosch

I like Beck and Arnley. They fit as they should.

rotor sizes? Brake rotors or Ignition Rotor? I never had a choice when buying for my '89 for the ignition rotor

Pretty much any wire is AOK, and will work terrific out of the box. The moment of truth really won't pop up for a couple to three years. All of the anecdotal evidence really points to the Bougicords being the better wire down the road. Whereas I've heard enough stories of Bosch wires causing problems after they get some miles on them.

It's interesting to point out that while the rest of the ignition system in later 240's consists *entirely* of Bosch components, the engineers at Volvo chose Bougicord wires as original equipment. :)

    Magnacor from IPD?

I currently have Bosch wit hthe metal sleeves. They fit very well and work excellent. I wasn't happy with the recently purchased "bougicord's" from fcp... short coil wire and cheap looking construction.

don't get me started on magnecor. when I got my 87 used, I did the whole number on... it tune up all new parts, timing belt...shocks..ball joints...bushing..etc

about 3 month later the thing starts missing really bad but totally intermitently ...first time was on a kayaking trip in the WVa mts.....

this thing plagued me for about a month, even my regular Volvo mechanic was stumped..I pulled the distributor and replaced the hall sensor,...I was thinking ECU. Then this fellow who used to hang out on this board ... Don Foster...suggested the "Midnight Viewing". SOB it turned out to be one of those Brand New Magnecors shooting blue light all over the valve cover....last place I would have looked because I had that one covered...they were brand new how could they be the problem.

Is Don Foster still around? I remember him as the guy who put Volvo parts in his dishwasher, much to the dismay of his wife.

That is the question. From out on the Cape (Cod) or near!. Had a fix for just about everything that would trouble a 240, without spending more than a dime.
Always imagined an angular guy with a yard full of Volvos...no yah chaaan't get thar from here...

At one time I used Bosch W7RDP Platinum or W7RDS silver in my B23F and B230F 240s, but I have just as good performance from the copper Bosch W7RDC. It pleased me that the price is lower, and that the W7RDC is specified in the owner's manual.

    Good Luck,

Bosch makes a very nice set of wires for the 240, comes with 2 coil wires to accomodate different fender placements of the coil.

i recommend bosch wires as well. NGK suck and are pricey. Also, kingsborne wires I hear are excellent (the same one as IPD's cept IPD charges x2,x3 because they paid to put their name on them)

search kingsborne on google and look for em. They're a good price as well.

Ditto on the Kingsborne. Just put some on my 740. 8mm, little pricey, around $50 for mine. I got the metal ends. Includes coil wire.
