Anyone know the OEM distributor part # for 85 240 ti B21 engine? Thanks for any help. I have had a problem with the timing marks moving as you watch the timing with a timing light. Also have a slight miss.If bearings are wearing out this is a simptom.Lookng for a replacment used if known to be good or reman. Thanks,Charlie

book says check timing with vacume unit disconnected, air cond off.
start engine and do not run it over 1,500 rpms (to avoid influence from spark control unit)timing 12 degrees plus or minus 2 degrees at 900 rpms.
      good luck

I thought electronic ignition compensated for worn distributors. That is a selling point for a points to EI conversion.

TREV29,I can't think of anything else that would case the timing mark to do that.Like Porkface said it's not the harmonic balancer.I put a new timing belt and tensioner on and still have the same problem.Has anyone else run up on this problem? Thanks,Charlie

Don't have an answer for your question, but have you checked to see if the harmonic balancer is worn out/slipping? This will make the timing mark do some really wild stuff!

fyi-this does not apply to the 85 240 turbos because they are b21s and use the old balancer setup. the slipping ocurs only on the the b230s. and so it goes, chuck.
