steering pump noise 200 1993

Working on a '93 240 wagon : a loud noise intermittantly comes from the power steering pump ..every 20 or 30 seconds, for about 3 or 4 secopnds it sounds like a spoon thrown into a blender..then it the noise dissapears until 30 seconds later. I have drained the fluid and replaced with fresh fluid..twice..but to no avail.
The steering function works fine and does not cause the noise to either get louder or go away...any suggestions to address this scenario ???

Thanks much

Sounds like it's the bearings in the pump pulley. I get the same spoon noise in mine, although thankfully it's much, much less frequent.
How about getting another one, maybe at the junk yard? That's what I'll do, eventually.
