Were there any major differences betweeen the 89 240 dl sold in california and those sold in the rest of the US?

    according to the SwedishBricks FAQ

    1989 - New steering wheel. Rear head restraints standard on sedans and wagons. GL model adds head restraint covers to the 1988 model. New fuel system with integrated ignition system (LH-Jetronic version 2.4) (No more Mopar! :) and no more adjustable timing :( ). California model gains EGR system

    Ca car most likely has an EGR and a different ECU to match

    Based on the 89 Volvo Electrical book, there was no difference. This is a pretty good, but not perfect indication that all cars were identical in 89 in the US.

        I'm in California with a 1989 240 that came from Texas. I've passed Cali's smog test the last two times on the first try, so I wonder, if there are differences in the emissions, how much of a difference does it make?
