Stainless Steel Brake lines 200 1992

Is there any real advantage to stainless brake lines over standard lines beyond longevity? Is there any disadvantage? What kind of service life can one expect from a set? And who carries the best product? It seems like the price is reasonable enough relative to standard brake lines so as to make purchasing them justifiable. Agree or disagree?

I also have the 3-line (ABS) set from IPD. I had them installed several years ago in the interest of improving braking feel. My original rubber lines weren't really deteriorated to the point of failure, but I could instantly feel a difference in the brake pedal once the SS lines were installed.
If you DO opt for the SS braided lines, be sure to soak all of your original brake line fittings w/PBlaster about 1 week before doing the install. I did mine this way. I did help loosen SOME of the threaded fittings, but heat was still required to loosen the fittings on the rear line.

    Good Luck!!

The use of SS hoses on brakes help stiffen up the pedal a small amount and help resist fade. On our 92 245 I went with the IPD three line setup meant for ABS cars, price wasn't bad. If you have a non-ABS car, its more money as you have a total of 5 hoses that need replaced.

I have never heard of longjevity issues with SS hoses, and to be honest with you, I have enough confidence in them that I haven't even thought about checking them since I put them on the car.

Keep in mind that the change in pedal feel will be minimal to unnoticeable unless you really rag on the brakes.

Its a good investment, go for it.
