Help,
Arrow is flashing on the dash idiot lights. Car seems to be stuck in third gear when I put it in drive. Very sluggish to start and won't shift. Is there a transmission sensor that is going bad?

You need to plug into the A1 socket under the hood and pull the code. Most common failure that I see is the gear position sensor. It is in 3rd gear because it is in limp home mode, normal.

Thanks for the input. I've got two questions:
1. Where is the A1 socket?
2. Where is the gear position sensor?

It has been replaced before but that whas when my wife drove the car and it was worked on in the shop. It is an old part of the family now so I don't like to bring it in anymore. It doesn't get the attention I think it deserves.

Is the gear selector sensor the same as the neutral safety switch?

The A1 socket is in the DTC on the rear of the driver's side shock tower. The 900 FAQ's describe how to pull the codes.

The PNP sensor is similar to a neutral safety switch and incorporates that function into it. It is located on the passengers side of the transmission. If you turn your ign. key to ON (don't start), put your foot on the brake and row the shifter from P-L a bunch of times (20-30) it may clear up for a while but it will need to be replaced. There are also instructions for the PNP R & R in the FAQ's as well I can send you the procedure that I have detailed.
