I'm the soon to be new owner of a '96 960 wagon. Does anyone know of a 'third row' rear seat option for these cars? I know the 240 series had them. If so, any suggestions on aftermarket source?

For what it's worth, the seats are designed for kids between 40 and 80 (or 90?) pounds, and under 5 feet tall.

Also, they stopped making them for the '07 wagons. I have them on my '93 945T and love them, gives me the capability to haul seven when I need to.

I have a tan one in a 1993 940 in Gastonia, NC. I don't know how safe they are in a rear end collison. They are restricted to small occupants and their is a weight restriction too.

Greyhound bus lines will ship bigger things like this for a really reasonable cost. You can pickup at the local bus-station.

I have one that I don't want in my 1997 965. In beige.

I am in Houston, TX.

The best way to do this is for both cars to be together. Did the same with 245s some time back. We had the Volvo instructions, but thye may not be vital.

You should be able to find a rear seat from an earlier 700 or 900 to fit. May be tough finding pieces in the right colors if you want it to really look like it belongs: your 960 probably has the lighter tan or grey leather.

To really look right, you might want to get the complete assembly from a 700 and convert yours, drilling holes and notching the trim pieces to fit- the upper seat belt anchor covers will almost certainly need to be modified.

It may be possible to find an exact match from a similar car, but it'll take a little bit of "finding" to come up with one, I bet. The 960 didn't sell a lot of units, so junkyard examples, especially of late ones, are rare.

Yes they are made. I took mine out and sold it.

E-bay, brickboard classifieds, craigslist. Dealer, naturally $$$$. Call your local private Volvo mechanics, salvage yards.

I'm sure that the ones from 740's fit in 940's, not positive about late model 960's w/ independent Rear suspension, ask the yard people.

They are available at VLVWorld.com , The seats I saw listed were kind of pricey but maybe less than a dealer, also what might be worth checking out is that there seems to be a single part# for a wide range of wagons that could be helpfull if your hunting for a donor car at a wrecking yard
