Loaded calipers 200

FCPGroton says their loaded brake calipers contain, "Organic Pads made in Canada."
Does anyone know who makes these pads? Any quality issues?

    Many pads are now "organic" since the demise of asbestos. When I buy loaded calipers, I assume the pads are on the cheap side and plan to replace them within 20k miles with a set of PBRs. Or just swap them out when you install the calipers: the pads aren't that expensive.

    There is no way to know what exactly you would be getting and I would never put mystery pads on my cars, thus I never buy loaded calipers.

    Also, before ordering by mail, check you local NAPA. I got a good price there on rebuilt calipers and it is nice to not deal with shipping back and forth with heavy parts. Use your AAA card if you have one to get a discount at NAPA.

    I almost never buy rebuilt parts mail order from Groton or anyone else. The shipping costs both ways generally eat up any savings and if you have a problem then you are dealing with lots of delays.

      A good point. And there is also the possibility of getting mismatched caliper halves. Not to mention the inconvenience of recovering the core charge.

    Those pads are garbage. Chuck em or buy unloaded. They don't have proper shims either.

    They will squeal!

      I can agree with Aye Roll. My company sells pads made in Canada. Ours used to be made in Mexico and supposedly they were really crappy so we bought Canadian. Definitely get the proper shims, they will squeal!

      All right, then. I have no problem with assembling the unloaded calipers.
      So now the question is, which pads to consider and which to avoid?

        Loaded brake pad question 200

        As I initially said, PBR seems to be what is recomended.
        Now the choice is premium or metal master.
        I get premium and am happy with that.
        However my 245 came with metal master and
        a bent rotor,so I got some Italian rotors,
        surfaced the metal masters on the belt sander
        with # 36 and installed pre-compressed pads.
        No break in.
        But I am sure they wear the rotors more than
        the premiun's that I bought for mom's 245.
        Your choice.
