Car Hesitated Then Check Engine Light Came On 700

I have a '91 740 Turbo, and while driving on the highway the car started hesitating at constant speed and lost power then the Check Engine light came on. Thankfully i was able to make it home. Can you please help on trying to figure out what's wrong and how to diagnoise the check engine light. Thanks a bunch in advance

Thanks for the help, i really appreciate it, no problem. I didn't realize the FAQ page existed. My car is a 91 740 turbo.
