Computer swapping S90-V90

Can any one tell me if the V90's have to go through the same drive cycle deal that the 96 and 97 models do. I'm going to use a engine control from a 98 model on my 97 to check it out on this end. Will post back with findings.

    Hi Poolman,

I realy don't know but I would guess they (the drive cycle requirements) would be the same for all OBDII cars.

I believe the Motronic 4.4 units are locted in the bulge in the passenger's side kick panel. My green book says the Motronic 1.8 units (-'95) are located at the left front valance, inside the panel. But I have never removed one.

Someone here will know for sure.

I'm not sure Dewfpo (thanks for responding also) the later year V90 was supposedly updated with a little different software for engine control. From what I have read and gleened here-I haven't learned of one of these last year models having the drive cycle problem-back sometime ago this ,was brought up by another forum member and just for the want of another control moduel I bought one on ebay the other day-car had low mileage was told-anyway I'll check it out and report how it works out.

        Hi Poolman,

I bought our 98 S90 in August of 1997. The last S/V90 series rolled off the production line the following February. When I lived in No. CA I never had a problem with the readiness tests (smog tests every 2 years), but I always had the dealer run the tests.

I had heard of the readiness issues and I thought (at least in CA at the time) that there was a CARB exemption for certain cars that had issues with the readiness tests.

I have heard of that same exemption on these cars-but it seems that some states do not allow for the readiness tests to be bypassed-it's a damn shame when the sniffer reads well into the allowed rates and because of some goofed up computer programing from the dealer ,that a state will not allow an inspection sticker. Any way if this works it may be a way for others to gain also.
