Check both elbows on the purple air pump vacuum line. I had the same code and took a close look...the elbow above the manifold was deteriorated and sucking air. I replaced it with a piece of windshield washer line and a small cable tie. It works fine.

Yep! Mine has done it three times. Components are ECU, solenoid valve, check valve, air pump and several hoses.

1st time the rubber elbow on the plastic line to the check valve was rotted. Cost about $1.00 for elbow.

2nd time I was working on the car and knocked the vacuum hose between the intake manifold and the solenoid valve loose.

3rd time the check valve died and the system was sucking moisure and exhaust gases into the hoses. New valve was in range of $100.00 This valve can be checked by sucking on the control port with your mouth. You should not be able to suck anything through but you may hear the valve actuate. If you get nasty stuff in your mouth you need a new check valve. (BTDT)

Seldom is the air punp at fault.

the easy way to check the air pump is to disconnect the plug that comes off of it. Then rig up two pieces of electrical wire to it the pump's plug and the car's battery. IF it starts spinning, the pump is fine. If it stays silent, you're going to be ebay's newest customer.
