Trunk Seal for 82 242 200

Hello,

I just received my replacement trunk seal/gasket (used) and would like some input related to installation. The gasket seams to just snap over a flang that runs around the trunk opening, but I noticed that towards the front of the trunk some sort of sealant was used inside the seal. Does anyone on the board know what type of seal was used and/or have any tips on the installation job. Thanks.

Mario

I think they used sealant where they suspect water would pool. 3m super trim adhesive is sorta the standard, good stuff, cheap, lasts a long time.

Trunk Seal for 82 242 'Thanks Jim' 200

      Jim,

Sort of what I was thinking. The old seal only had sealant towards the low point at the trunk opening and none at the top. I have some 3M adhesive and will give it a try. This leak caused some serious rust in the spare wheel well and now that I fixed it, dries the word. Thanks for the help.

      Mario
