SU air filters 444-544

I tried to post this a couple hours ago and it didn't show up, so I'll try again.
I found a site (new to me)that I would like to have found 3 months ago when I was modified the air filters on my car so they could be changed easily and using Parts Store filters.
If you have a B18 or 20 with SU filters, you might be interested in this site. It is http://su-filters.com. The price is reasonable-under $100 for the complete set including the engraved Volvo Logo.
Another tidbit--I drove my car to a Cruise-in last Friday evening and there were about 60 cars there. They also had a Rep. from American Street Rod Association there and he was doing free Safety Inspections. He was surprised to find NO problems on my car, and there was a picture and short article in the Joplin, Mo. newspaper. I was very pleased.

Yep, that's right, 70USD per - although I will be running a special soon. Buy the filters and get a set of valve cover clamps for 5usd, your choice of colors.
These filter are pretty expensive, but you get machined billet, and air horns too. I can't compete in price with stamped steel and paper, only quality.

Cheers!
OK

I got some of that reaction, too, but not as much as I thought I'd get. California has a very long history of having Volvos around; I've seen a 1953 model! Most of the people who stopped to talk had one of these old cars, or had a buddy or relative who had one 'back in the day.' Since it looks so much like the '46-'48 Ford 3-door sedan, it really wasn't too 'odd' to be amongst the other cars.

Talking to people, I stressed the availability of rebuildable cars, their low price (compared to 1950's vintage American iron) and the ease of obtaining nearly any part needed. With the cost of gasoline as high as it is, the prospect of being able to build and drive a nice vintage car for pennies per mile (compared to other 'hot rods') plus the space to drop in a SBC or turbo V6 really seemed to make people sit up and take notice.

Over all, it was a great show, and I had a good time, and had my photo (and the car's photo) taken so many times I lost count!

What's a cruise in? Are these common all over?

Nice to know your brick is solid, I bet. :)

Around Chelmsford Massachusetts, there are cruise-ins every night of the week at ice cream stands, restuarants, etc.

Once you find one and go, you will hear about more. Some have 50-50 raffles, or other traditions.

With most, you don't even need a classic car, and the atmosphere varies, but is usually informal, friendly, and family-oriented.

One large ice cream stand has motorcycles one night a week.

A Cruise-In is like an informal car show...usually you don't have to register or pay a fee to enter. Just park your car and go visiting. Our local club here in the California High Desert (High Desert Road Runners) hosts a Cruise-In the second Saturday of each month throughout the summer. It runs from 6PM to 9PM to avoid the worst heat of the day. We have a raffle for prizes, a 50/50 drawing (you buy tickets for that, and the winner takes half the money from ticket sales) and we give trophies and plaques.

We're somewhat more organized than other Cruise-Ins; for example, Bakersfield, CA (about 90 miles from here) has a weekly cruise-in on Friday evenings at the Sonic Drive In on Olive Drive. They get about 40-50 cars. Our club is planning to attend one of their cruises soon.

For me, this is one of the most enjoyable 'meets' for hot rods and vintage cars. Not every car is a show car; some are fresh from the barn, others are clean daily drivers, etc.

Steve
