Hi all,
wondering if this is normal... When I turn the car off I hear the fuel pump continue to buzz for 5-10 seconds then I hear the relay click, and it quits. I have changed the FPR twice and resoldered the original, but nothing changes it.
Is it supposed to do this?

My guess is someone "hot wired" your fuel pump relay. Look carefully at the blue and green wire coming from the FI relay- this is the fuel pump relay coil ground which should go to pin 20 of the ECU, but sometimes is (dangerously) tied to ground to avoid buying a replacement ECU.

The 5-10 second delay period is to heat the AMM wire to incandescent and burn off the impurities. The fuel pumps should not be running while this happens.

ahhh, that explains the extra wire added at the FPR...... So my ECU is bypassed at this point? How can I confirm and repair back to normal?

It will be obvious to you once you get home from work and take a look at it.

You would put the blue-green wire back to ECU pin 20, and when the car no longer starts wired this way, you would put it back to ground again, then begin looking for a bargain on a -561 white label or -951 replacement ECU. For safety. For life.

The danger is mostly after an accident, the fuel supply would not cut off with the stalling of the motor. Whoever does those bypasses must be mimimizing that risk in their own minds.
