960 Trouble code help S90-V90 1997

My 965 acted up a little over the weekend. Got the well-known "transmission light show" and a check engine light. I was able to clear the tranny issue with the FAQ fix (cycle the shift lever multiple time) and expected the check-engine code to be tranny-related when I dumped the code. Interestingly the code referenced the "speed sensor". I was able to clear it and it has not returned. Can anyone direct me to the location of this sensor and it's connector? I would like to check it and at least clean the connector. The code actually makes sense since my wife also reported she thought she saw the tach needle at "zero" for a few moments even though the engine was running. The car ran fine the entire time all this was going on.
Thanks!

Your wife's situation is sounds exactly like what happened to me sime time back. Apparently I dragged the key slighly toward the "position I" side of "position II" after a startup. The Tach and speedometer failed to register, the CEL light came on as did the flashing WSE bit.

Cleared codes, no problem. I am more careful now to not put any reverse pressure on the key after the engine catches.

Re: moving the key towards position 1...

You know, that might be the problem! There's lots of stuff on her key fob. The weight and movement while driving may have tweaked it enough to move the switch and start the "show"! I'll get her to downsize the collection and see if the problem goes away for good. Thanks for the quick reply!

There are 2 "speed related" inputs to the ECU, one refers to engine rpm, sensor located above flywheel, the other refers to road speed, sensor is on the diff. What was your fault code.
