instrument cluster 200

Hi fellow volvo owners,I have just bought my first.Have a quick question to do with the wiring at back of cluster.the car is an 82 245 ,formerly diesel,at the back of the cluster ,there are two plugs and two spade connecters(at least on mine). My question regards the connecters, one female, one male,I have a yellow wire to the female, and cant seem to find one for the other.Does this need two be connected? What does it do?Anyone know what color the wire is supposed to be?Thanks.

How Ironic this is. I am in the process of converting a 1982 245 from diesel to gas. Does the car have a large tach in the cluster? If it does, then you need to look for a white wire with a red stripe(with a female end inside a clear plastic cover). If you find this wire and the male terminal you speak of is on the back of the tach, then that's where that wire connects to. Under no circumstances do you ever connect that wire to anything else on the back of your instrument cluster or I'm told by many folks here at the brickboard that it will fry whatever else you hook it up to. It is for the tach only. The yellow wire you spoke of earlier has a red stripe on it as I'm not sure what it powers and has the male end on it. Good Luck and I hope this helps!
