Help identifying control boxes?? 700 1990

I am parting out a 1990 740 GLE. Today while removing the driver's door I ran across these two boxes under the dash on the driver's side. The silver box was above the hood release partially hidden by a tangle of wires. The black plastic box was just to the right of the steering column. Both boxes have the Bosch and Volvo numbers added to the image. They both had the same type of connector found on the ECU.

Can someone tell me what they are? They must be a relatively trouble free pair as I have never seen reference to them in answer to someone's problem.

Randy

The silver box is for ABS. The black box is for the ignition control.

John,

Thanks very much. Is it safe to assume the ignition control box would be specific to the twin cam engine as opposed to the 88, 91 and 92 turbo cars I currently have?

I agree. The ignition control box for the 16 valve and turbo cars should be different.
