Why is my car slanted? 900 1993

Hi! My '93 944Turbo always looks slanted (tilted to the left) when looked upon from the rear, what could it be? I don't think my car has the expensive nivomat-type struts to replace, do I? Do I need to change the struts, or is there any other part which wears out and causes one rear side to be lower than the other? I recently took the car for an alignment and the guy said that there are several parts in the front end which need to be changed before the alignment. I guess I'll order them from IPD, as soon as I get the english translation for the parts names. I think I'll need to change all 4 struts/shocks, any suggestions on which brand/model? My city (Cali, Colombia) y a series of potholes tethered by some asphalt, that's how deteriorated the streets are, so I'll need a strong suspension... Once again, your advice is greatly appreciated!!!

Spook is almost certainly correct: rear spring sag is endemic on these cars.

    Estimado Sr. Wizzard,

Muy buenos tardes. I'll shift to English, to keep peace in-house. The rear springs do wear out, especially if repeatedly stressed by heavy loads and/or uneven road surfaces. I presume you've made sure the tires are properly/equally inflated.

The rear spring are not hard to change. The shocks have to be removed (top bolt is accessed, after removing the wheel, and the rubber plug at the top of the wheel well). A spring compressor is needed.

I presume the springs can be ordered from on-line suppliers. I believe IPD has them. If not. www.fcpgroton.com has/can get them.

    Hope this helps.

    Yours faithfully,

    spook

Spook, where can I get rar springs for a 940 SE? Dealer? Mine have pretty much had it, too. I replaced the Nivomats, but continue to have the "lean."

      Thanks.

      Allen

        Dear Allen,

Good p.m. and may this find you well. You can ask Nick Bauer at www.fcpgroton.com.
See, for example, http://www.fcpgroton.com/volvo700shocks.htm#springs . These are "after market" springs.

You can can also contact www.bortonvolvo.com. They're a dealer, but willing to discount. Jon Reynolds, with whom I've also dealt, is knowledgeable.

Either of these gentlemen should be able to help.

        Yours faithfully,

        spook

Thank you, Mr Spook! I missed your "Good PM and may this find you well".... ;-)
Fortunately, labor is pretty cheap around here (while parts are absurdly overpriced), so I'm taking the car to the only Volvo shop in the city (which I dislike) to get an oil change, and ask them to make a full suspension (front/rear) check and give me part numbers, so I won't get lost in translation, hahaha... I'll order the parts online and have them imported; once here, any mechanic or shop can install them. Thing is, almost no one (including the Volvo dealer) seems to know their way around Volvos in this city!

I would like to share two sites with members of this board: www.volvopartsdirect.com and www.thepartsbin.com I am in no way affiliated with any of them, but have been very pleased with their service. Although neither is a Volvo-specific site, they offer a breadth selection of parts, and their prices are very good...
