960 Backfire 900 1992

My 92 960 backfires every few months. When this happenes it blows the intake manifold off the rubber tubes that attach it to the head. I have to take things apart to get it back together.
It backfires on start up , after it has been sitting a short while. Usually from 15 to 30 minutes.
I have been unable to determine why this is happening. Any ideas how I can solve this problem?

I think your fuel pressure regulator is shot. When it goes really bad raw fuel is draw into the intake manifold. When the engine is warm while starting the added fuel makes for a rich mixture. Next time the engine is hot let it sit about 15 minutes and then take of the vacuum line to the fuel regulator and see if liquid fuel is running out of the hose.
