b230 cyl head-whats needed? 200

Greetings:
i'm talking to a place that has a rebuilt cyl head w/turbo cam. I want it for my 87 b230 245. is this head the same except for cam? They believe a cam swap would make it identical to my normally aspirated engine. what markings appear on cam to say what it is? e.g. a, b, m, k? he has another one not yet rebuilt. What all needs to be rebuilt to make sure I have a long lived unit? I hate the thought of going in again after a year to fix something that could have been done properly the first time for an extra $60. Thoughts? comments?

Well, one big problem will be the injector ports for K-jet will have to be plugged. It is kind of odd to use a turbo head when there are a lot of fine B230 LH-type heads around. Other than tht, I don't know, new exhaust, intake gaskets, cam seal, timing belt....should be pretty straightforward. There are a few more things to attend to on a turbo but not for you. The turbo head will have the T cam and I think you would normally run the M (from my memory).

Some differences in sensor location may be encountered too.

That is correct the difference is all in the cam, it has different lobes on it. The exaust valves are sodium filled to deal with the extra heat, these valves will not effect the operation. Just curious what is the price on this rebuilt head.

cost of rebuilt head was $250 delivered, I THINK w/out exchange. All worn parts were repaired /replaced (like valve guides) but good springs, etc. were not automatically and routinely replaced with new. Thats why I asked what to get done to get a first class job that wouldn't fail in 6 months, etc. I still want the cam markings, though.
