The relay rack on a 940SE is located on the passenger side of the center console. Take off the panel under the glove box and then remove the panel on the center console. The fuse box is located the left side of the dash.
Top row left to right
One large relay going from top row to middle row (Headlights)
Small relay (fuel pump)
Small relay (central locking)
Middle Row left to right
Small relay (Fog lights)
Small relay (Bulb fialure warning sensor front)
Small relay (Overdrive)
Bottom Row left to right
Small relay (Bypass relay)
Small relay (Intermittent relay rear wiper)
Small relay (Intermittent relay windshield)
Small relay (Seat belt reminder)

KPW,
Had similar problems with my 93 940 Turbo. When you have replaced all the normal suspects, FI relay, Main Relay, Power Stage; I would suggest you go to the resistors down by the Power stage. Disconnect the plug to the resitors, clean, crimp, put on anti corrosive paste and reassemble. I had similar problems of stalling and hard start that would go away and then come back. Car ran poorly and consumed bunches of gas as I worked the gas pedal to keep things alive as I stumbled home. Traced my problem down to the resitors.
Good luck,

Tim,
Can you elaborate on the location of said resistors?
Purhaps a photo?
I'm having the exact same symptoms as yours, also on a '93 945T.
Thanks in advance.

Jeff,
Sorry for not responding, I thought I had. The resistors are down by the battery right near the power stage. 4 resistors in a cage with 5 wires.

Good luck.

Replace the most common items that can cause stalling or no starts but I have to say, don’t trust the FP relay even if it is new.
About two months after replacing several items because of stalling and delayed starts, thinking the problem was over I had a no start and a stall in one day. I drove the car as normal for the following month, except with the cubby pulled out, armed with another new FP relay, crank sensor and a FI relay. In the parking lot of my eye doctor’s office I had a no start. A light rain forced me to pick the cleanest and easiest item to replace of the gang of three. I plugged in the new FP relay in and the car started. Great? No, not good enough. I put the faulty one back in and it was a no start, then put the new relay in and it started. I was so relived I tried it again to make 99.9% sure it was the fairly new FP relay.

Hello Kevin:
I have had intermittent stalling due to a bad power stage (ignition amplifier), although numerous people have suggested to me that the intermittent failure was rare-- more likely to be working all the time or not working at all. I have picked up used ones at the pick-and-pull and I keep them in the gloveboxes of both my cars.
My money is on the RPM sensor. Other less likely things include radio suppression relay and intermittent contact of wiring on the coil.
Not sure about the 940SE, but on my 940 the headlight relays are right in front of the battery (driver's side front).
Good luck!

Herb,
I had a bad power stage amplifier cause stalling problems on my first 945T. So as far as you and I are concerned... it's not all that rare.
