Carpeting?? 700 1991

I would like to fix up my 91, 740, its been thro tons over the years and the carpeting has about ten soda and other fountain drink spills under its belt.
How do i take the carpet out to clean it? Or how do i rip it up to replace?

I cant buy anythng online, i dont have any credit cards or time for that.

Is there any stores i can just go to and maybe get rug cut out for the car?

Also, the lining on the ceiling came completely off and the rubbery stuff around the sun roof just recently got tangled in the sun roof tracking and is now just there...hanging, what can i do? i dont HAVE to have factory parts, but something to replace it would be nice??

Also, how do i fix plastic side storage area on the door? its cracked, i can take pictures of this stuff if need be...

Thanks, Garg

I have had excellant results by removing the carpet and power washing it at the coin op carwash. Perhaps pretreat it with Simple Green.

After spraying let it dry. Turn it upside down and then use something to beat it on the backside to get the sandlike particles to fall out. You may have to do this twice (or more)for best results.

To remove the carpet, take out the seats, and you'll be able to slip it out from under the trim pieces.

What color anyways? I was actually going to eBay a tan set out of a '91 later this week ... Click here for the pic.
(It's dark, one gets some odd reflections. It's pretty clean, really.)

If you're interested, let me know (kane two zero seven at gmail dot com) and consider taking a little drive up north. I'm near the 60/57 interchange.

The door pockets ... if it's just a crack, then clear silicone. If it's a chunk missing, you'll need to replace it.

    Headliner, it's in the FAQ.

I just renewed the carpet in my 960-tan in color-gave it a good shampooing but just before doing so vacuum of course and using a carpet stain spray first then the shampoo. After the carpet dried I used a cloth and vienal color spray to renew the color. Advance auto has this vinal spray in different colors and is safe to use on carpets. This will make the carpet look like new and take dull spots out of the pattern. You will have to let the windows stay open in the car for a few hours after doing the above to let the car air out afterwards.
      Hope that helps

Ten carpeting is ok, but the carpets in ours are gray (or when they wenrt sticky and black) there were gray.

I think i will try to tak the seats out and pull the carpeting up and clean it, if that doesnt work ill have someone cut me out some carpeting of the same type and color.

      Thanks, Garg

(i had no clue you had to take the seat out to take that carpeting out) thanks!

The carpet that's used in cars is molded with a plastic backing, so I'd suggest getting some from a wrecked/junked car. If it's just muddy, it'll clean up really nicely but if the pile is beaten down and worn it's not going to look great in any case.
