OT - Can you fit a 4x8 sheet of drywall in a 240 Wagon ? 200

We are in the midst of a winter monsoon in Detroit - was curious - has anyone sucessfully hauled a piece of 4x8 drywall in the back of a 240 wagon?

Not with the hatch closed. Can't do it in a 7/9 series wagon either.

But then, that's where my Roadmonster comes into play. Even hauled some 2x6x12-ft, stretching from the closed tailgate to the dashboard.

The horizontal width of the tailgate opening is 45 in. The diagonal, measuring from the left spare tire cover up to the right will allow about 49-50 in. but you better have a helper inside to guide it in. The distance from the rear seats to the tailgate sill varies depending on how your front seats are positioned but figure 79-80 in. meaning the tailgate must remain open and not bounce against and break the edge of your drywall. You might be able to get 3, 4 sheets max in one trip. Got a neighbor with a late model Chrysler Town and Country or Dodge Caravan? 4x8 stock lays flat and the hatch closes with a few inches to spare. I put 3 2x4x8's down as runners to ease the loading/unloading.

oh yeah. couple summers ago i hauled sheetrock and plywood when needed. diagonally of course, not lying down. and with gate up. think it was 2-3 sheets at time. and dozen 2x4 's and 6's . who needs a truck? monsoon in detroit? probably colder than here in anchorage area. ah, global warming.
