Would a faulty oxygen sensor trigger the engine check light at 1994 940?

    Sure. What codes are you getting from the OBD? I would guess a 2-1-2 if your O2 sensor is bad. List of codes and procedure for pulling them is given in the 700/900 FAQ on this site.
