Wiper motor speeds 200 1987

Quick question: What controls the wiper motor speeds. My intermittent works good, the slow is acceptably slow, but fast seems to be as slow as, or maybe a little slower than, the slow speed. Does the column switch actually act like a switch & control the juice supplied to the motor? Or is this more likely a motor problem? The only relay that I've found listed is for the intermittents? Is there another one I haven't found? Thanx in advance.

The motor has a different winding for each speed. The stalk switch selects which winding,m and whether to got through the interval relay.

If your motor is not running faster in speed #1, something else is going on. Could be the motor itself has something going bad, or the wiper mechanism is somehow gummed up.

240 motors are the same for many years, get a known-good spare to have on hand.

    Good Luck,

    Bob

Hi. Thanx for the reply. By speed #1 do you mean fast speed, or faster, or less slow? I call position 1 (flipped down) the slow speed, position 2 less slow (cuz I've never seen Vovo wipers go "fast"), but right now pos. 2 is about the same as pos.1. You think it most likely the motor then? Thanx again.
