745 transmission in a 122?

Ive desperately been wanting to put an overdrive setup in my 65 122.
I happened to run across a 4 speed w/overdrive on ebay from a 745, and
Im thinking I could probably get it fairly cheaply. Has anyone on here
ever attempted such a switch? What would I need?

On a similar note, if ANYONE on the west coast (and Im willing to travel
quite a distance; I travelled 700 miles to buy the car) could hook me up
with an overdrive I would pay handsomely. I simply dont have the mechanical
skill at present time to attempt such a project. So, in short, if someone
has the necessary parts and the time to do this, let me know and I'll make it
VERY worth yourwhile.

Thanks guys!

The tranny will not be your problem, it's the bellhousing. The engine in
a 745 leans over but the tranny sits up straight so that if you use the
bellhousing it comes with, your tranny will be leaning over to the side.
Chances of finding a bellhousing that will solve the problem are somewhere
between slim and none. What you REALLY need is an M41 tranny.

If there are shops in your area that modify bellhousings that might be a
possibility. But it will definitely take some work. Also with the M41,
you can use your original tranny lid so you don't have to change the shifter,
just mount the 4th gear switch. With the tranny out of the 745 you will
probably have to do major surgery on your tunnel, which is a structural
member in the 122. Really seems like the hard way to me.
