Headlight on Warning comes on everytime I press barake 200 1982

82 Turbo......at night I turn on lights.

Every time i hit the brakes, the headlight warning buzzer comes on, release brake pedal, buzzer stops........needless to say I am going to limit my evening driving to freeways until i can fix this.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Mike

Bulb out indicates the system is out of balance, with both bulbs out it is in balance, ie no curent on either side. The system grounds out through the "dinger" alerting you to the issue.

"Bulb Out" warning system will tell you when one bulb of a left-right pair is out. If both are out, it tells you nothing.

Bulb Out system is based on comparing current draw of left vs. right side for each set of bulbs that it monitors. If the draw is different, it lights the "Bulb Out" indicator. Both bulbs dead or missing = 0 current on both sides = no difference detected.

System will also light the warning indicator with unmatched bulbs - different ages, differeng maker, or different type such as long-life vs. extra-bright. Will also alert driver sometimes when there is bad conductivity on one side, such as contact corrosion in bulb holders.
