Will,
You can fix it yourself. Most shops won't be able to repair the condenser because it is made of aluminum. Just buy a replacement from a wrecking yard (approx. $25). The condenser is right out in front of the radiator and is easy to remove and replace. Make sure to use new O-rings at all the connections. If you do the work yourself you will be into the job for under $35, other than re-charging the system. Also, I would find someone else to do the re-charge, it sounds like the person that gave you that quote is trying to gouge you.
