Delrin might work good there. I made throttle shaft bushings and the stuff fares so well without need for lube. I think it was Delrin,
an almost black material I think, impregnated with graphite or similar.. it turns like cutting butter with a hot knife , on a lathe.

I think early 240's had bushings and then they went to bearings and those are horrible to get to. the one in my 740 keeps filling with water. I got a new cheapo one from rock auto and it's similar 1 wire, but the flange is different so I'm trying to get it to seal and not fill again with water. the one in my 122 is an OEM electrolux ;-)
