Yes, I thought it was cute, in the way it would be a conversation starter in a physical meet among 240 aficionados. It isn't a modification of the chime circuit, but an addition of a stored music clip on a chip made for such things like musical greeting cards, plush toys and the like. If someone actually used the piezo "speaker" in the chime unit for the music, I can see why imitators opted for external speakers, hi-fi in comparison, leaving the original chime unit to do the logic part.
