Water and Steering Pumps rebuild 900

Hi Randy,

Today I removed the bracket, without disconnecting the pump from the hoses, I hooked the pump up somewhere so that its weight (it is light anyway) does not damage the hoses.

The bracket is now in the degreaser so tomorrow I will be able to better see, but at a first glance, it appears that the front holes are bit larger than what they should, which in my opinion could have causes the bracket to move against the block, and since it is made of aluminum, it is possible that the front side of the bracket is now less thick than the back side.

Tomorrow, I will measure and compare the tickness with a digital caliber, even 1mm difference could cause the difference you see in this image.

Now, since the bracket is made of aluminum, I would lean to use aluminum fender washers, as I do not think stainless steel would do any good to the bracket, because stainless steel is harder.

Thoughts?

Alessandro
